Kelser Takes the “Ice Bucket Challenge” for ALS

News | Foundation

Hartford, CT: The current phenomenon sweeping the country is the Ice Bucket Challenge, a social-media driven grassroots charity campaign with tremendous results and effect. The campaign has raised over $40 million dollars for the ALS Association and heightened awareness on a grand scale for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease".

The Kelser Foundation, Kelser Corporation’s philanthropic operating arm, is no stranger to charitable causes. This year alone, employees and friends of the company and foundation have taken part in an enormous number of fundraising efforts. The “Kelser Krew” has completed a Tough Mudder (benefitting Wounded Warriors), climbed CT’s tallest building (supporting the the American Lung Association), and many more. The Ice Bucket Challenge was next on the roster.

With many of the members of the company being nominated for the challenge, Kelser decided to take it on as a team. Joining the ranks of 34 Kelser employees was David Fisch, radio personality from 104.1 WMRQ, a CT owned radio station.

On August 20th, a warm and sunny day, the Kelser Krew completed the challenge, raising $2,600 for ALS in the process.

The Krew’s next philanthropic adventure will be the 2014 Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Hartford on September 21.
