As they planned to move to a newer, larger facility, the distributor also planned significant upgrades to its technology. Working with Kelser on testing and pre-staging some of the new network infrastructure before the move event instilled confidence and made troubleshooting the environment on the actual move day all that much easier.
The Kelser team evaluated the legacy systems and existing configurations and provided Atlantic Fasteners with general recommendations, help with implementation, and logistics and support for the physical move to the new location over a weekend. Kelser also provided project planning, network design, VMware consulting, DR site planning, pre-and post-move testing, and firewall configuration services.
The project included changing every IP address in use in the customer environment, applying VLAN segmentation, implementing appropriate security between the VLANs, implementing a management plane, separating voice traffic from data traffic, as well as dividing up data traffic by function (server, storage, endpoint, wireless, etc.), deploying and testing a strategic disaster recovery (DR) plan via the VMware vCloud Air service, and implementing a secure guest access wireless LAN for the new building.
