Network Engineer

Job Title: Network Engineer
Location: Primarily Glastonbury
Type: Full Time
Reports to: CTO

The Network Engineer (NE) will be a primary resource for monitoring/technical support of managed services and traditional customers (implementation of network projects). The ideal candidate has real-world experience supporting networks at a CCNA or above level, as it relates to: firewall/VPN, route/switch, server, desktop, and mobility. All applicants will be expected to demonstrate technical implementation and support of complex network environments and associated technologies. Cisco networking experience is required. The ideal candidate will possess 3+ years of experience with “hands-on” network support, focused on implementation and administration of network solutions. This position is external customer facing, so communication and customer service skills are extremely important. A successful NE will become a valuable and contributing part of the Kelser culture.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support Kelser external customers with:
    • Project Delivery
    • Participate with project management
    • Technical implementation
    • Technical documentation
    • Network monitoring
    • Network administration
  • Technical Requirements:
    • Route/Switch
    • Working knowledge of routing
    • IPSec VPN
    • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues
    • Ability to deploy route/switch/firewall solutions
    • Working knowledge of firewalls
    • Experience with Client VPNs
  • Promote Kelser products and services
  • Inbound customer support requests
  • Service delivery via excellent communication and customer service
  • Attend and comprehend training
  • Maintain current Cisco CCNA+ certification
  • Ability to achieve higher level certifications such as CCNP
  • Accurate time tracking/accounting
  • Stay current and be aware of emerging technologies and products
  • Availability on a scheduled basis for off-hours and/or on-call assignments
  • Other duties aligned with skill set, as directed by Kelser staff
Skills and Qualifications
  • Cisco CCNA certification required
  • 3+ years of current/“hands-on” experience with route, switch, firewall/VPN, and security (primarily Cisco)
  • Network monitoring
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Project documentation (diagramming, written, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience
