Kelser Corporation Donates $49K To HFSC From Annual Charity Golf Event

Written by Eileen Smith | April 8, 2025

GLASTONBURY, CT — In a recent ceremony, Kelser Corporation presented the Hospital for Special Care's Center For Cognitive Health with a donation of $49,000, the proceeds from its Annual Kelser Charity Challenge.

The funds—donated through the company's nonprofit arm, the Kelser Foundation—are specifically earmarked for the hospital’s Alzheimer’s, Dementia and Memory Care Fund.

Representatives from both Kelser and the HFSC attended the gift presentation ceremony, which took place on March 19, 2025, on the grounds of the New Britain, Conn.-based hospital.

On hand for the special event were: outgoing HFSC President and CEO Lynn Ricci, who retired this year from the position she’s held since 2016; Crista Durand, Ricci’s successor who officially took the helm on March 3, 2025; Dr. Anthony Rinaldi, Co-Director of HFSC’s Center for Cognitive Health; Stanislaw Jankowski, HFSC Chief Information Officer; Kelser CEO Barry Kelly, and Lisa Carroll, Kelser VP, Revenue.

“Your generosity provides hope,” Durand said in a statement to Kelser. “Your contribution ensures that every patient or program participant receives the individualized support they need to strengthen, heal and rebuild.”

The flagship golf tournament (Kelser Charity Challenge), held each year at Indian Hill Country Club in Newington, Conn., has raised more than $276,000 for HFSC’s Center for Cognitive Health since 2017.

Last year’s event, held on Sept. 16, 2024, drew 120 golfers and dozens of volunteers who enjoyed a sunny, relaxing day filled with friendly competition, food, and laughter.

“They continue to do amazing work. It doesn’t feel like a hospital, it feels like family,” says Kelser's Kelly, who adds that he hopes Kelser can serve as an example to encourage others to support their communities in various ways.

Kelly says his company’s ongoing commitment to the hospital comes from a place of empathy, as he and several other Kelser employees understand first-hand the challenges of caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other cognitive health issues.

Since its inception in 2010, the Kelser Foundation has donated upwards of $1.2 million for various local charitable causes.

“Your gift enhances the quality of life for the communities we serve,” Durand continued. “You share our values of providing exemplary multidisciplinary medical care, cutting-edge clinical research, and active involvement in therapeutic recreational activities.”

Plans and registration for Kelser’s upcoming 28th Annual Kelser Charity Challenge are well underway. This year’s event will take place on September 9, 2025 at Indian Hill Country Club.
