New Regulations for Nonfederal Organizations are Imminent.
Is your business ready?
Nonfederal organizations in industries such as manufacturing, aerospace, defense, and machinery that work with government agencies and contractors must be compliant with the requirements laid out in the NIST Special Publication 800-171 by December 2017. If you have contracts or subcontracts with the federal government, your business could be subject to these new information security regulations.
There are 14 families of Security Requirements that make up Special Publication 800-171 by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Each of them is geared towards ensuring that Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) is handled securely by government contractors, their suppliers, and their partners.
The entire ecosystem needs to be uniformly protected, and NIST 800-171 compliance will take effect on December 31, 2017 to enforce the protection of the federal government and its interests.
On average, implementation of these regulations takes 4-6 months. Don’t put yourself at risk by waiting.
Failure to comply could cost you your business.
